A Close Look at the 2026 Venice Biennale, Part I: The Main Exhibition
Kerr Houston, Professor Maryland Institute College of Art and Johns Hopkins University
Not planning a trip to Venice this year? No problem: instead, join Kerr Houston for a virtual overview of the 2026 Biennale, the largest and most celebrated exhibition of contemporary art in the world. This year's Biennale, on view through November, features an ambitious international exhibition titled In Minor Keys (originally envisioned by the curator Koyo Kouoh and subsequently designed by several colleagues) and a number of intriguing national pavilions and collateral installations and events. Professor Houston, who will be in Venice for the month of June, will share numerous artistic highlights, discuss some prominent themes and curatorial tactics, summarize some of the various controversies swirling around this year's show, and offer specific reactions in two lectures developed specifically for the Art Seminar Group. If you're interested in contemporary art or in the shape of the art world today, we hope that you will join us!
