HYBRID IN-PERSON AND ONLINE PROGRAM
DADA’s Enduring Presence
Aneta Georgievska-Shine, Professor of Art History, University of Maryland
Reception 1:00 - 1:30 pm
This concluding lecture in the three part series traces Dada’s international diffusion and enduring legacy. It considers how local conditions shaped its diverse manifestations. The discussion then turns to Dada’s profound influence on later avant-garde movements, including Surrealism’s dream imagery, Fluxus’s embrace of performance and chance, and Conceptual Art’s focus on ideas over objects. In conclusion, we look at how Dada’s spirit of irreverence and experimentation continues to resonate in contemporary art and critical thought.
