This autumn and winter the Vuitton Foundation dedicates all of its galleries to a great retrospective of the oeuvre of the German painter Gerhard Richter (born 1932), regarded internationally as one of the most important artists of his generation. This is an exceptional retrospective, unmatched both in scale and in chronological scope, featuring 275 works spanning the period from 1962 to 2024. The exhibition includes oil paintings, glass and steel sculptures, pencil and ink drawings, watercolors, and overpainted photographs. It is the first exhibition to offer such a comprehensive view of Gerhard Richter’s creativity, and it includes all of his best-known works in all of the 92-year-old artist’s various styles, figurative and abstract.
