Join jazz pianist and historian Quentin Walston as he brings Monk’s music to life in a captivating concert and seminar for the Art Seminar Group of Baltimore. Through live performance and discussion, Quentin will explore Monk’s unique approach to melody and harmony, his influences, and the lasting impact of his work. Thelonious Monk was one of jazz’s most innovative and enigmatic figures, known for his playful exploration of dissonance, unexpected rhythmic shifts, and unmistakable improvisational style. His compositions, including “Round Midnight” and “Blue Monk”, have become jazz standards, celebrated for their depth and originality.
