The Thomas Cole National Historic Site in Catskill, New York, hosted the landmark 2010 exhibition Remember the Ladies: Women of the Hudson River School, the first known U.S. show dedicated solely to female artists of the nineteenth-century landscape movement These artists were the daughters, sisters, wives, friends, and colleagues of the more famous (and still remembered) men. Their art was exhibited, commissioned, catalogued, and collected. Today their extant works are rarely found in museums but continue in private legacy collections. Come and meet three of these artists. Enjoy their work and hear their stories, as we appreciate their artistic challenges and successes.
