IN-PERSON PROGRAM

The New Jersey Art Scene Grounds for Sculpture and Princeton

Join ASG members for a day trip to Grounds for Sculpture (GFS) and the Princeton Art Museum. GFS is a year-round, 42 acre New Jersey-sculpture park with over 300 works creatively sited in ever-changing art-filled gardens. In addition, temporary exhibitions of established and emerging artists are featured in six indoor galleries. The collection contains sculptures by 150 artists, including Beverly Pepper, Kiki Smith, George Segal, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Willie Cole, Joyce J. Scott, and founder Seward Johnson.

After a self-guided tour of this extraordinary place grab a quick lunch at the Van Gogh café before getting back on the bus for Princeton and the exciting new University Art Museum. A globe spanning collection of more than 117,000 objects is now graciously distributed over three floors and nine intersecting pavilions designed by Adjaye Associates. A guided tour will hint at the breadth of collections - from Chinese classic paintings through Antioch mosaics, to Charles Wilson Peale’s George Washington and the Battle of Princeton and an installation by Nick Cave – and yet leave us time to explore on our own before heading home.

Snacks and wine will be provided during travel.

Members-only registration through May 3, open to subscribers and guests if trip is not full on May 4 (limited to 40 people). Fee $220 for members; $235 for non-members. Full refund before May 3. No refund after May 3. Group will depart from Meadowood Regional Park Parking Lot at 7:00 AM and return to Baltimore by 6:00 PM. Times are approximate vary depending on traffic.
