Todd Marcus, Bass Clarinetist and Composer

A look at how bass clarinetist/composer Todd Marcus presents his music as a jazz musician, integrating influences from his Egyptian heritage and work as a community activist. In a program that will feature live performance, discussion, videos, and photos, Marcus will share about his work as a musician and how he has found ways to incorporate non musical aspects of his work to find greater depth in his art. The presentation will include an overview of Marcus’s work and demonstration of how he approaches the process of using instrumental music without words to offer musical storytelling about Egypt and West Baltimore community, where he is a co-founder and executive director of the nonprofit Intersection of Change.
