After a one-year delay due to Covid, the world's oldest and largest regular exhibition of contemporary art returned to center stage this summer, as the Venice Biennale drew tens of thousands of visitors. In this lecture (the first in a two-part series), Kerr Houston will offer an overview of the 2022 show's curatorial philosophy, notable themes, and major moments, and a close consideration of several of the most memorable works in the exhibition.
